Let's get outdoors! Real Rock Introduction is a half day course designed specifically for the beginner, for those that have never tried rock climbing or for those looking to advance their skills outdoors on real rock. Your professionally trained guide will teach beginners elements of basic safety and different climbing techniques involved with climbing outside.
We will teach you:
- Equipment: how to use a harness and belay device
- Knots: tying in with a figure 8 follow-through, plus a fisherman's backup
- Belaying: using a locking carabiner and ATC to confidently keep your climbing partner safe
- Commands: how to communicate with your climbing partner
- Bouldering: have fun staying close to the ground
- Crack Climbing: the technique of camming your hands and feet in the cracks of rocks in order to advance
- Technique: using balance, flexibility, and strength to move up a face
- After taking this course, most students can safely pass the MetroRock belay check
Location: Local climbing crags located around Eastern MA
